Matthew Stafford leaves the friendly confines of Athens, Georgia and travels to Detroit, Michigan in search of fame, fortune, and football success with the lowly Detroit Lions. Earlier today the Lions made Stafford the number one (1) pick in the draft and according to news outlets the Lions’ organization opened up their piggy bank and signed Stafford to a six-year, $78 million contract with $41.7 million in guarantees. Stafford is considered a classic pocket passer with excellent arm strength. Stafford found success at UGA and I’m confident that he’ll turn things around in the Motor City.
The Denver Broncos drafted former University of Georgia runningback Knowshon Moreno with the twelfth (12) overall pick. Moreno electrified Bulldog fans during his two (2) years between the hedges, finishing fourth (4) in the school’s all-time rushing yards category. Just imagine if he stayed all four (4) years. Moreno is known for his quickness, elusiveness, and he has exceptional hands and underrated route-running.
The Cleveland Browns drafted former Bulldog wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi with the eighteenth (18) pick of the second (2nd) round. Massaquoi had four (4) successful years at UGA and proved to be a big target his senior year. Massaquoi is a physical receiver although he has a penchant for dropping passes.
