60-Days

Eligible citizens will pick the new American president and vice president in 60 days. In one corner, stand Democratic hopefuls Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Republican hopeful Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin stand in the other corner. As the election roars toward the inevitable, one can only imagine how the next 60 days will play out. Will the American public be treated to debates regarding substantive issues, or will the race regress to name calling and veiled insults on race, sex, and age.

I pray it’s the former, as opposed to the later because America needs to be invigorated with new political leadership and we need an honest and frank discussion about the present and future of our great country. It’s no secret – I support Senators Obama and Biden as their vision for our country is closer to my hopes for the United States. I believe the Democrats can provide a pragmatic administration that will take steps to address the biggest concerns of the American public, like healthcare, the economy, and how to navigate with foreign countries.

As it stands, America is in transition, as the President Bush years have been hard – wages and jobs have declined while prices have increased. As a result, the economy has regressed, the housing market has crashed, and many people are struggling to maintain their American dream. The good news is with change comes hope, and with hope comes change.
