Dear Residents of South Carolina:

As someone who lives in South Carolina, you hear from the people running for President quite a bit. Because South Carolina has the second primary in the nation's nomination process, its people have an enormous privilege and power in the process of choosing our next President. I don't live in South Carolina, but I do know who I am supporting in this election. Your choice in the primary on January 26 could very well shape the future of our country.

Barack Obama is not the product of insider Washington politics. As a community organizer in Chicago and civil rights attorney, he has known the struggles of everyday Americans. He has a plan to get us out of Iraq, to provide health care to all Americans, and to meet our 21st-century energy needs. But most importantly, he has a vision to restore the greatness of this country that no one else in the race does.

I can't pass up this opportunity to write you. I just don't want another decade of the same partisan bickering that we saw through the 1990s. Barack Obama can bring our country a different kind of politics.
