We Rush Because We Can

Why throw the ball when you can rush through teams? For the second week in a row the Atlanta Falcons have defeated a NFC South team, shown the league why they’ve been the NFL’s best rushing team for the past two seasons by rushing for 306 yards, and flexed their defensive muscle by holding Tampa Bay to 40 rushing yards. I can get use to the Falcons playing like this. The Falcons exorcised three previous losses to the Tampa Bay Bucs by beating them 14 – 3. The score should’ve been 26 – 6, but neither team could kick a field goal. Falcons’ kicker, Michael “Triple Threat” Koenan missed 4 field goals, shanking all four to the left. Son, plant your foot facing forward. Koenan will be alright.

The Falcons offensive line is playing great football. Honestly, Michael Vick and Warrick Dunn can’t do what they do without the meat in the middle. Big ups guys. Keep up the good work. Michael Vick had another productive day, going 10 of 15 for 90 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Vick also rushed for 127 yards and 1 touchdown off 14 carries. Vick continues to show his maturity in the west coast offense, by throwing to seven receivers: Ashley Lelie (3 passes), Alge Crumper (1), Roddy “Rowdy” White (1), Michael Jenkins (2), Jerious Norwood (1), Fred McCrary (1 pass resulting in a touchdown), and DeAnge Hall (1).

The receiving corps is coming together nicely. Crumpler is consistent as ever and Lelie and Jenkins are showing their willingness to catch down the middle. Although White has shown his youthfulness over the last two games; I believe he has big play potential. D. Hall on offensive…

Warrick Dunn continued to amazing with 136 yards. Dude is probably the most underrated running back in the league and he’s only 5’9 and 180 pounds. To quote one of the sportscasters, “After Dunn’s football career’s over, he won’t have problems fitting in as a civilian, since most people are bigger than him.” Rookie, Jerious Norwood also contributed 46 yards on the ground.

The Dirty Bird defense continued to impressive and gain respect. D. Hall had 2 inceptions, Jason Webster had 1 interception, and Rod Coleman had 1 sack. Outside linebacker Keith Brooking lead the team with 7 solo tackles.

Next week the Falcons travel to the Big Easy to take on the undefeated New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. A sound trashing of the Saints and Reggie Bush in front of a national audience will skyrocket the Falcons respect.
