It’s Been Awhile

It's been awhile and lots have happened since my last post. It's hard for me to say, but my beloved Bulldogs are not a good football team. This season has had far too many letdowns as UGA has repeatedly played uninspired and undisciplined football. I still support Coach Mark Richt, but he needs to make considerable changes this offseason as the team appears to seriously declining.

The Shad and I witnessed the Dawgs' short lived revivial as we travelled to the Classic City to watch the Bulldogs dominate the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 38-0. This was probably the team's best game of the season (hopefully their play against Georgia Tech will turn out to be their best game). Quarterback Joe Cox managed not to turn over the ball and he finished 10 of 13 for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. More importantly, the G-Day Defense actually stopped a team and played like a Division I squad; unfortunately, they dominated a Division II squad.

The following week Wubya and I travelled to Athens, Georgia to witness the South's Oldest Rivalry, as UGA took on the Auburn Tigers between the hedges. This was probably this seasons' most satisfying win (hopefully they'll beat the Yellow Jackets and that will be the most satisfying win) as the Bulldogs won 31-24. The offense protected the ball and didn't commit any turnovers. Freshman running back Washaun Ealey had a breakout game, rushing for 98 yards and 1 touchdown. Unfortunately, wide receiver A.J. Green injured his shoulder, but young receivers Israel Troupe and Tavarres King showed big play potential.

Rest in peace Uga VII; you will be missed. It's hard to believe Uga VII passed away so suddenly. My heart goes out to my bulldo family.

Last week I had the opportunity to go to Georgia's game against Kentucky, but I decided not to go due to predicted rain and cold weather. Although the weather proved to be dry and mild, the play of the Bulldogs was sloppy. Georgia continued their trend of leading the nation in penalties, with 5 for 75 yards. Joe Cox went 12 of 30 for 291 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 terrible interceptions. The dual running threat of Caleb King and Washaun Ealey each rushed for 77 yards apiece. Tavarres King and Orson Charles continued to show promise. Unfortunately, the Dawgs imploded in the second half and lost 34-27.

I'm really looking forward to Georgia's game against Tech. The Yellow Jacket fans have been unbearable ever since Tech's 3 point win last year. Georgia will have a chance as Tech's defense is weak; however, Tech's offense is explosive and the Dawgs' defense is weak. Bulldogs win in close game.
