Yesterday Senator Barack Obama entered the history books when he was officially nominated as the first African-American presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. Earlier today, Senator Obama told delegates “that through hard work and sacrifice, each of us can pursue our individual dreams but still come together as one American family, to ensure that the next generation can pursue their dreams as well.
Tonight he accepts the nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and will give his acceptance speech and look to paint a vivid picture of how America will operate under President Obama. Many prognosticators forecast the Senator Obama will discuss the failures of the Bush administration, and offer his vision for dealing with the slumping economic, the nation’s healthcare system, and America’s presence in Iraq.
As a supporter of Senator Obama, I am eagerly anticipating his acceptance speech and vision for America. The nation is at a crossroad and I believe that we need a president in the White House who understands that the current status quo doesn’t work for a majority of Americans.
