Bizaro Alert – Harrington’s Back

The Atlanta Falcons appear to be running in circles as they resigned former starting quarterback Joey Harrington to a multiyear deal. The Birds current quarterback roster mirrors last season’s roster which also included Harrington, Chris Redman, D.J. Shockley and imprisoned Michael Vick. With the signing of Harrington, there may be hope that the Falcons won’t waste the third overall draft pick with a quarterback. Perhaps they’ll trade down and pick up several first round draft picks and improve our offense and defensive line.

Please don’t get it twisted, I don’t agree with the resigning of Harrington as he just couldn’t get it done last season. He may have put up big numbers, but he didn’t know how to win games. He couldn’t make the big play when the Birds need it. Redman played well down the stretch, but I’m not truly convinced that he’s a legitimate starter in the NFL. I loved Shockley’s quarterback play at UGA and watched all his games, but he’s never taken a snap in a regular season NFL game and I’m not sure if he’s ready for the big time.
