Whatever Happened to Jamal Anderson
Whatever happened to former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson? He played eight seasons with the Falcons from 1994 to 2001 until he retired with a torn ACL. Anderson finished his Falcons career with 5,336 rushing yards, averaging 4.0 yards per carry. He had 156 receptions for 1,645 yards and he finished with 40 total touchdowns.
Anderson is most known for his 1998 season when he lead the Falcons to a 14 – 2 record and a Super Bowl birth. During the 1998 season, Anderson set a NFL single-season rush record with 401 rushes. Anderson was a power back with speed and he was known for knocking dudes off the block.
Anderson is also known for the “Dirty Bird” dance, perhaps the hottest NFL celebration dance of all times. During the 1998 season, everybody was doing the Dirty Bird and the dance became so popular that even after Anderson left the Falcons, the fans used the name “Dirty Birds” to describe the Falcons. At this current time, with the teams’ poor performance, I refuse to acknowledge the Falcons as such because they don’t deserve it and haven’t re-earned the right to be known as the Dirty Birds.
