Forever Hers:
With much excitement and jubilation I’m proud to say that PiB is back online. My life has significantly changed for the better since my last post – as my father would say, I’m an old married man now! Swamps and I were married on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at two o’clock at the Ebenezer United Methodist Chapel in Conyers, Georgia. The colors of our wedding were wine and old gold and the reception was at the Oaks Country Club in Covington, Georgia.
The wedding and reception were simply perfect. Swamps looked amazingly beautiful in her antic white wedding dress and I looked rather handsome in my black tuxedo with antic white tie and vest. My groomsmen were Miguel Lebanon, SoCal, Black Platinum, and Bean. Swamps had four bridesmaids – Dr. Ill, NaNa, J. Yel, and Lilly Ann. My goal is to have some pictures posted by the end of the week.
Iceland is Green:
Swamps and I stepped outside the box for our honeymoon. We went to Iceland for 11 days and experienced one of the coolest places on earth. If Iceland isn’t on your “travel wish list”, then you must consider revising your list because this island has it all – naturally heated geothermal pools, 100 feet plus high waterfalls, 200 feet wide waterfalls, the original geyser, volcanoes, lava fields, whales, puffins, pure breed Icelandic horses, glaciers, and other numerous natural wonders. English is Iceland’s second official language, so communication is not a problem and almost everyone we encountered loved America, so harassment is almost out of the question. My goal is to have some pictures posted by the end of the week.
Justice Served:
Michael Vick pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges while I was in Iceland. It’s good to see that the government did its job and that Vick acted responsibly and admitted his wrongdoing. As I fan, I hoped that Vick was innocent, but as an officer of the court, I only hoped that justice would be served. In other words, I wanted Vick to either have his day in court so it could be proven he was guilty or see Vick own up to his transgressions. Although Vick proved to be guilty, I do not agree or condone the mainstream media’s early condemnation of Vick because our justice system is set up to be innocent until proven guilty and not vice versa.
Since Vick admitted his guilt, then I think he should be subjected to a just and deserving punishment. If that means Vick will be incarcerated, fined, and suspended by the NFL suspension, then that’s his punishment for breaking the laws of America and the rules of the NFL. I’m confident that he knew the consequences of his actions, and now he will have to live with them. I hope that the downfall of Michael Vick serves as a lesson for all, know matter how powerful, rich, and/or famous we become, you have to be stewards of your actions.
#13 Georgia, Oklahoma State 14
Georgia Bulldog football kicked off in a big way with an impressive victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday night. The Dawgs started slow but gained momentum when the vaulted G-Day defense completely shutdown the high powered Cowboy offense. Critics thought Georgia would struggle in this game because the Bulldogs fielded 12 first-time starters, but once again Georgia proved them wrong by fielding players who are athletic, prepared, and show disciple. Critics must remember that this is the same young team that ended last season with three impressive victories over top 25 teams: Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech. The Dawgs are going to surprise a lot of folks this season.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford went 18 of 24 for 234 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Running back Thomas Brown rushed for two touchdowns, running back Knowshon Moreno rushed for 70 yards and had 51 yards receiving, and full back Brannon Sutherland rushed for 1 touchdown. Freshman tight end Bruce Figgin and wide receiver Michael Moore also had 1 receiving touchdown apiece. The G-Day defense had 5 sacks and had 11 tackles for losses of 62 yards.
The Georgia Bulldogs play the South Carolina Gamecocks next week.
