Peaking Order

Only one team can call the Georgia Dome their nest and that’s the Atlanta Falcons. The Dirty Birds dominated the Arizona Cardinals with defense as the beat them 32 – 10. Cornerback DeAngelo Hall had 1 interception; linebacker Michael Boley had 1 interception and 1 sack; defensive end Patrick Kerney had 3 sacks, and linebacker Demorrio Williams had 10 tackles, with 7 being solo. Overall, the defense played great.

The offense also played okay considering they’re still working out some clinks. Quarterback Michael Vick went 13 of 22 for 153 yards and 1 interception, and rushed for 101 yards. Rookie speedster running back Jerious Norwood rushed for 106 yards and 1 touchdown. His loan touchdown was a 78 yard sprint to the outside. Son is fast. Warrick Dunn for 59 yards and kept the chains moving. The wide receivers are starting to catch the ball. Ashley Lelie had 2 receptions for 61 yards, Alge Crumpler had 2 receptions for 30 yards, Michael Jenkins 3 receptions for 28 yards, and Roddy “Rowdy” White had 4 receptions for 26 yards.

The game ball goes to the special teams unit. “The Ageless Wonder” Morton Anderson kicked 5 field goals and Michael Koenen kicked 1 field goal. The Falcons must learn to score touchdown. Six field goals are cool, but six touchdowns are better. Great teams score touchdowns and don’t settle for field goals. Falcons – work your red zone magic.

Next Week: Bye
