Packer Backer

When I see the “G” logo I think University of Georgia, but I’ve quickly learned that when Milwaukeean’s see the “G” logo they think Green Bay Packers. Well, as fate would have it, I completely missed the awesome Atlanta Falcons v. Pittsburgh Steelers game on Saturday because I was delayed at the Milwaukee airport. The only game showing was the Green Bay Packers v. Miami Dolphins game. They didn’t show any game breaks with Falcons highlights. Actually, I was lucky to get a seat by the television because Packer’s fans made it clear that seats by the television were reserved for “Packer Backers and if you aren’t a Packer Backer, then that seat is reserved for my luggage.”

Since I was stranded in Packer country, I didn’t see any highlights of the Dirty Birds overtime 41 – 38 win over the Steelers. Miguel Lebanon reported that I missed a wonderful game. His words, “Atlanta’s offense looked great. It was beautiful the way they set up the Pittsburgh defense.” Michael Vick had a career day, going 18 of 30 for 232 yards and 4 touchdowns and 40 rushing yards. Warrick Dunn added 69 yards on the ground and Jerious Norwood rushed for 64 yards. The Falcons wide receivers played big, with Alge Crumpler catching for 117 yards and 3 touchdowns, Ashley Lelie receiving for 58 yards, and Michael Jenkins catching for 25 yards and 1 touchdown. The Atlanta defense also forced 3 fumbles.
