3 Way Dance

FaSince no one apparently wanted the third receiver spot at Falcons camp since the unfortunate injury to Brian Finneran, the Dirty Birds decided to engage in a three way trade with the Denver Broncos and the Washington Redskins. The Falcons send backup running back T.J. Duckett to the Redskins, Denver sends number three wide receiver Ashley Lelie to Atlanta, and finally Washington sends a conditional third round draft pick to Denver.

I always preferred T.J. Duckett over Warrick Dunn on Madden 06 because he was an amazing power running back, breaking tackles for big runs. But in real life I prefer Dunn over Duckett because Duckett he never seemed to pick up the steam like he did on the videogame. In real life, Duckett seemed to tip-toe to the line, trying to juke and fake out opposing lineman as opposed to plowing them over with his 6’0, 254 frame. To his credit, Duckett was a good short-yardage back, earning eight touchdowns and netting 380 yards.

Off the field, Duckett seemed like a nice and personable guy. I gave him a high-five at the Falcons Fan Fare at Piedmont Park. Duckett handled his backup role with class and charm and he even started the T.J. Duckett TD Foundation that focuses on positively impacting youth and families who have lost loved ones to cancer. Because of his positive actions on and off the field, I hope he finds success in Washington.
