Joe Horn

The AJC reports that the Atlanta Falcons have just signed former New Orleans Saints free agent wide receiver Joe Horn to a four-year, $19 million contract. Horn is an 11-year veteran with 576 catches for 8,501 yards. That’s more than any wide receiver in Falcons history. Horn is known for his consistent hands, on field leadership, and his outspoken demeanor. Finally, the former Dirty Birds have a proven wide receiver that is a veteran and has accomplished NFL creditability. Someone who can hold Michael Vick accountable for bad and inaccurate throws and can ultimately get in Vick’s face if he’s not getting the ball to the open receiver.
As a Falcons’ fan I’ve seen Joe Horn burn us on plenty of occasions. I’m looking forward to cheering him as he burns other NFL teams. My roommate Wonder Bread is a Louisiana native and he reports that Horn is a great guy for the Falcons organization because he plays great football and he’s active in the community. But then Wonder Bread’s true Saints colors came out, as he ranted that Horn was washed up and a traitor. I don’t think Wonder Bread really meant the last little bit. I think he was sad that Joe was leaving.
