It seems like it's been a long time since I last posted. Sorry about that - life's been super busy, and I thought my 3rd year of law school would be easy. Here's the recap from the last week.
Friday, September 22, 2005:
I hopped on a jet plane along with Grandma Foster, Aunt Jennifer, and cousin C-Nell heading toward the Ranch in Dallas, Texas for the highly anticipated wedding party. We arrived at the airport extremely early - three hours early, and actually left on time. Quote of the Day: "The girls and I just got off the internet, and we're hot and ready for action." I won't incriminate the sayer.
Saturday, September 23, 2005:
After playing driver for the majority of the morning, I settled in to watch Bean and the rest of the Panthers Pop Warner football team destroy the Titans 32-19. Football is king in Texas. My brothers little league team had a digital scoreboard and play-by-play announcer. Player of the Game: Wider Receiver #81 Bean - 2 pancakes that led to big touchdown runs. The Panthers are undefeated!
The wedding party went off beautifully. Everyone looked great, the food was wonderful, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was good seeing the parentals happy and in love. Best wishes and love! Item of the Night: Matching Black "Bride" and "Groom" t-shirts.
After the wedding party, I headed to a local bar to watch the #6 Georgia Bulldogs defeat the Mississippi State Bizarro Bulldogs 23-10. Since it was Georgia's first road game, I busted out my new alternate "lucky" green UGA t-shirt. I will wear it for every away game this season. The bartender laughed his butt off when he first saw me. His words, "UGA doesn't know anything about green, you must think you go to Norte Dame or something." Shockley went 21 of 36 for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brandon Coutu had 3 field goals. The Bulldogs were off this week, but next Saturday they travel to Knoxville to play the Tennessee Vols. The winner will be in the driver's seat to win the SEC East. Play of the Game: Leonard Pope carries three guys on his back for five yards and a touchdown.
Sunday, September 25, 2005:
I actually did some school work, and then my family went to see Bow Wow's new movie - "Roll Bounce". It takes place in 1978 (the year of S. Dash) and follows a group of Chicago teenagers in their quest to be the best roll skaters in the city. It also deals with teenage love and how to coup with loss of a loved one. It's pretty funny, and the 1970's sound track is on point. I give it a B. Best Mama Joke: "Man, by back hurt, because I been carrying yo mama on my back all day!"
Monday, September 26 - Thursday, September 29, 2005:
School work strikes back. Whoever said 3rd year was slack - lied! Don't believe the hype.
Friday, September 30, 2005:
I hosted a pizza and smootie party for all my residents. I had a pretty good turnout - 25 folks in all. We ate good and socialized. Congrats to Julie, the winner of the DVD player.
After to program I travelled to Cedar Shoals High School, located here in Athens to watch my cousin Danni Diva perform with the Rockdale County marching band. She did a wonderful job. It took me back to my days in the Seminole Marching Band. Surreal Moment: I'm over ten years older than some of those kids in the band.
The night capped off with the law school Phi Alpha Delta costume party. I was the only one without a costume. I really didn't think people would dress up, especially since it's not Halloween. Fun times: Quote of the Night: "Who are you? You. Well I always wanted to know what I'd look like if I was a Black man."
Saturday, October 1, 2005:
Law Dawg turns 24. How can you be a 3rd year law student and be 24? Crazy. Anyway, I group of us went to celebrate at Carabas. Good eats. Quote of the Night: "You may not want to open my present at the table, I don't think it's restaurant appropriate." I won't incriminate the sayer.
Sunday, October 2, 2005:
Soccer fun! The law school team lost, but we played with soul. Maybe next time we’ll finish the drill. The Atlanta Falcons destroyed the Minnesota Vikings 30 to 10. The team looked great! The only problem, Michael Vick hurt his knee. I pray he's healthy because we need him. Play of the game: Michael Vick jogs 25 yards and the Viking defense still can't catch him.
