The Falcons are 2-0 on Monday Night Football this season as they dominated the New York Jets 27-14. Instead of Michael Vick providing the “highlights” it was the Atlanta defense that forced four turnovers: 3 rumble recoveries and 1 interception. Additionally, they held Jets running back Curtis Martin to 28 yards rushing. New York only had 238 total yards.
Warrick Dunn (pictured) gets the offensive game ball. He rushed for 155 yards on 25 carries and had a beautiful 65 yard run. He was the only offense jewel because quarterback Michael Vick had a night to forget, throwing three interceptions, going 11 of 26 for 116 yards, a career low quarterback rating of 16.3 and looking completely confused by the Jets defense coverage. However, he did have 2 rushing touchdowns, so he did get some redemption.
The Falcons are off next week, so they should get an opportunity to rest up and heal some wounded players. Hopefully, Michael Vick will hit the film room. I think Vick is an awesome new breed quarterback who will revolutionize the position when he finds consistency in his passing. He has the arm and strength, now he just needs to improve his accuracy and touch. I’m not worried about Vick because the same things critics say about him are the same things they said about McNabb and Culpepper, and those two are definitely two of the top five quarterbacks in the league.
