The good news is the bulldogs remain undefeated, they’re still the top team in the SEC East, and they’ll probably remain #4 in the polls, but the bad news is UGA quarterback D.J. Shockley suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his life knee. He is doubtful for “the World’s Largest Cocktail Party” next week as Georgia takes on Florida.
UGA started the game strong with big defensive plays and an 11 yard touchdown pass from D.J. Shockley to Bryan McClendon. This looked like a typical big win for the bulldogs, but then Shockley went down with a sprained MCL and junior backup quarterback Joe Tereshinski III entered the game. Considering Joe T hasn’t played much over the past three years, he did a good job of managing the team. He went 5 of 9 for 91 yards and only had one interception. Thankfully, Coach Mark Richt decided to take the pressure off Joe T by running the ball with Thomas Brown (39 yards) and Danny Ware (16 yards). As usually, Brandon Coutu proved to be clutch by kicking three field goals and Brannan Southerland added a one yard touchdown run.
Although Georgia won, they struggled a majority of the game. They should’ve beat Arkansas easily, but key injuries to D.J. Shockley, Kedric Golston, and Martrez Milner really showed how fragile the Bulldogs are at this point in the season.
Next Week: The Georgia Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on the Florida Gators in the “World’s Largest Cocktail Party”. Your man S. Dash will make the trip for the first time, bottoms up!
