The Bulldogs started slow, but
finished fast as quarterback Aaron Murray continued his aerial assault on the
defense of opposing teams. Murray
finished 18 of 28 for 330 yards and 4 touchdowns. Murray is on track to reach 3,000 passing
yards. If he reaches this milestone, he
will be the only Bulldog quarterback to throw 3,000 yards in 3 seasons.
Congratulations go out to Todd
Gurley who accumulated over the 1,000 rushing yards. He is only the second true freshman to
accomplish such a feat. The first
freshman tailback to reach this goal was UGA’s all-time best, Herschel
Walker. Gurley finished with
workman-like stats – 68 yards and 1 touchdown.
Keith Marshall finished with 29 yards in limited action.
Chris Conley led all wide
receivers with 76 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Congratulations go out to back-up quarter Parker Welch who threw his
first collegiate touchdown. I imagine
the Jesup community is happy.
Today’s win over Georgia Southern
was expected. The big news today was
that #1 Kansas State fell to Baylor, 52-24, and #2 Oregon fell to Stanford
17-14 in overtime. In order for UGA to
have a shot at the national title, Kansas State and Oregon had to lose. That only leaves one undefeated BCS team – #3
Norte Dame.
If Norte Dame stays undefeated,
Georgia beats Georgia Tech, and Alabama beats Auburn, the winner of the SEC
Title will once again play for the national title. The Bulldogs control their own destiny. If they win out, they will get their
shot. GO DAWGS!
The Bulldogs have lots to play
for and the Yellow Jackets would like nothing more than to ruin our shot at the
crystal ball. UGA will have to come out
the gate fast and put Tech away similar to how they did Auburn.
