#7 Georgia 41, Missouri 20

The Bulldogs started slow and for 3 quarters, it looked as if the Missouri Tigers were primed to upset Georgia in their SEC debut.  The Zou was rocking, wearing their yellow spirit shirts and waving their yellow flags.  Midway through the 3rd quarter, UGA finally decided to introduce Missouri to “Grown Man Football.”  Georgia raddled off 32 unanswered points and Jarvis Jones single-handedly destroyed the Mizzou offense, with an interception returned to the 1-yard line and a forced fumble, which the Dawgs recovered on the 2-yard line.

Jones is a beast and if he keeps it up, he will definitely be playing Sundays.  He finished with 9 total tackles, an interception, and 2 sacks.  The G-Day Defense complimented Jones by dominating the Tigers.  They did this with 4 missing starters.  They have the potential to be a special unit.
Aaron Murray started slow, but finished 22 of 35 for 242 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception.  I like Murray’s effort and his ability to get different receivers involved, but I feel like he is not playing like an experienced junior.  It seems like he is trying to do too much, which either leads to a turnover and/or sack.

I am generally not fan of the tailback by commit, but since our guys are young, it works.  We need them all healthy for the season.  Todd Gurley is the truth and has the potential to be special.  He finished with 65 yards and 1 touchdown.  Gurley averaged 6.5 yards per carry. Ken Malcolm added 33 yards and Keith Marshall added 32 yards.  As a group, they finished with 113 yards.  Congratulations go out to Marshall Morgan, our true freshman kicker who hit 2 field goals.  This was his first away game and he handled the pressure well.

The Dawgs host Florida Atlantic Saturday night.  This should be cake walk, but as University of Louisiana Monroe showed us last week, anything came happen if you do not prepare and/or respect your opponents.  I hope the Bulldogs remember this lesson, come out hard, score often, and then rest their starters so some of the young guys can get some experience.
