As a Rockdale Youth Soccer Association ("RYSA") alumni, I proudly welcome and support the Georgia Revolution. The Revs kicked off their inaugual season in 2011. They play in the Southeast Division of the National Premier Soccer League ("NPSL"), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.
The Revolution may be a new team, but they have already made an immediate impact by qualifying for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Revs defeated Mississippi Brilla 2-1 in their first round match up. In the second round, the Red, White, and Blue host the Atlanta Silverbacks, a second tier team in the American Soccer Pyramid. The game's on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Although I am a Silverbacks fan, I believe the Revs have a fighting chance defeat the Backs because they are not particiularly a strong squad.
If Rockdale defeats Atlanta, then they will have an opportunity to play a MLS team in the third round. I seriously doubt the Revolution would get to host the game, but just imagine the buzz around RYSA (and Conyers generally) if a professional team was coming to town. Big league soccer in your own backyard!
