Of all Georgia's rivials, I've always compared the Auburn rivalry to that of competitive cousins, sometimes you beat them and sometimes you don't, but you always play tough, clean, and honest. Today, both teams played tough, but I feel like the Tigers didn't play clean, especially Nick Fairly who continued to give late hit after late hit on Aaron Murray and was allowed to body slam Murray. I normally don't approve of intentional fouls, but I'm gald the UGA offensive line went after Fairly after he took out Murray's knees late in the fourth quarter.
I also feel like Auburn Coach Gene Chizik and Tiger quarterback Cam Newton weren't honest (and I'm not talking about playing for cash) as they ran up the score with that last touchdown. I realize the inevitable counter is - "that's a Bulldog problem if you can't stop us" - but the game was already out of reach when the Tigers scored with 2:45 left in the game. Prior to the late hit and rub it in your face score, I probably would've cheered for Auburn and supported their bid for the national title, but now, I hope Alabama beats the bricks off them and South Carolina (who I hope beat Florida because I can't stand the Gators) beats the Tigers in the SEC title game. Next year's Georgia / Auburn game will be marked on my calendar and I hope the Dawgs "black out" the War Eagles when they come Between the Hedges.
Although the Bulldogs lost, they once again showed that they're better than their 5-6 record. Aaron Murray went 15 of 28 for 273 yards and 3 touchdowns. His stats would be higher, but he at least threw away 5 passes and had 2 drops. Murray should definietly make the All SEC Freshman team. A.J. Green set a career record with 9 receptions and finished with 164 yards and 2 touchdowns. Orson Charles contributed key first downs on 3rd down and finished with 56 yards. Senior wideout Chris Durham caught 1 touchdown and tailback Washaun Ealey rushed for 1 touchdown.
The Georgia defense tried to contained Cam Netwon, but potential Heisman winner, but ultimatley failed. There's no same in this as 10 other teams have also failed to contain Newton. The only person who may stop Newton is himself or his father. Bacarri "First Blood" Rambo's inteception was amazing, has he juggled the ball twice, cuped it and ran it up field for 25 yards. The Junkyard Dawgs are going to fine.
