Georgia needed a rebound win on Saturday, and the men in red and black delivered a big victory. The Bulldogs dominated the Volunteers on both sides of the ball and hopefully took steps to right our sinking season. Quarterback Aaron Murray is the truth and if he continues to develop, he's going to be amazing. He finished 17 of 25 for 266 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for 41 yards and 2 touchdowns. A.J. Green is playing inspired football and his presence on the field definitely makes everyone better. Green finished with 96 yards and 1 touchdown. I realize that Green and Kris Durham played the same position, but I'd love to see Durham get more playing time at one of the other wide receiver positions. The Georgia defense played well, causing 3 turnovers and holding Tennessee to 9 rushing yards.
I realize that Tennessee is not a good team and I probably shouldn't take too much out of this game, but it was good to see our guys played focused and determined football. There was a sense of urgency in their play and guys seemed to make give an extra effort that's been missing from recent games. For example, Aaron Murry's stretch for the goal line; Aaron White's fight for extra yard and extension of his arm, although a Vol player had him wrapped up; and A.J. Green and Caleb King holding on to the ball although they both took a nasty hits. I know it's going to be hard to run the table, but if UGA plays like this consistently, they will be hard to beat.
Big ups to honorary captain Boss Bailey, a former Georgia linebacker and first-team All-SEC player. Bailey gave a speech to the team and according to Coach Mark Richt, Bailey "pretty much called [the team] out." Richt further stated that Bailey "felt he needed to tell [the players] that they weren't playing ball the way ball should be played here at Georgia." Players reported that it was evident during Bailey's speech that he has a deep love for UGA football.
I hope our guys can develop their own love for UGA football and strive to represent it and themselves on and off the playing field.
