The biggest problems with Democrats is not that they proposed, pursued, and accomplished an ambitous agenda, it's that they never took to the airwaves to explain in everyday language why their ambitous agenda benefits America. Instead, they let Republicans mischaracterize and lie about the Democratic agenda until the public started believing the lies. Now it appears that some Democrats, in an effort to be more electable in the general election are trying to distance themselves from the very policies they voted to enact.
Instead of distancing themselves from policies that will help America in the long run, they need to defend the merits of their actions and draw the contrast against their opposition. For example, if they supported the Healthcare Bill, then they need to simply remind the public that a vote for a Republican who wants to repeal the act is a vote that allows healthcare companies to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions; it's a vote that prevents parents from keeping their adult children on their insurance; it's a vote that leaves 33 million Americans without access to healthcare.
