The Bulldogs get credit for not quiting. They could've quit after being down 2 touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, but the team fought hard on both sides of the ball to get back in the game until 14 seconds left in the game, when the gave up the go-ahead touchdown. The future of the Dawgs' season is uncertain, as they're 0-2 in SEC play and 1-2 overall. UGA hasn't started the season 0-2 since 1993 and no team has come back to when the SEC after starting in such a hole.
Quarterback Aaron Murray continues to impress, finishing 15 of 27 for 253 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 rushing touchdown, and 1 interception. Murray showed speed, but must learn to throw away the ball if running lanes are closed and wideouts aren't open. He and the offensive line were sacked too many times. Tailback Washaun Ealey played much better today, finishing with 87 yards and 1 touchdown, while back up running back Carlton Thomas added 30 yards. What happened to Caleb King? Kris Durham, a tall and lanky wide receiver led the team with 101 yards and Tavarres King added 91 yards.
The Junkyard Dawgs fought hard, holding the Hogs to 53 total rushing yards, but conceded 380 passing yards to potential first round draft pick Ryan Mallett. The biggest problem with the defense this season is their inability to get off the field on long third downs. Additionally, they must do something to force turnovers.
UGA has had a bad draw this season, facing probably the best South Carolina and Arkansas teams in recent memory, but championship caliber teams beat other school's best teams. I had high expectations for the Bulldogs this season, but I'm not sure right now.
