The Road Back

It's been so long since I last posted that I don't even no where to begin. Maybe I'll start with an UGA update. National Signing Day was last Tuesday and unlike most years, the 2010 Bulldogs recruiting class is not a consensus top-10. Many contribute Georgia's ill fortune on its poor 2009-10 season and its late hiring of defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. I'm not worry about the ranking because a highly ranked recruiting class does not always equal on the field success. The Dawgs need to focus on high school players that want to be at Georgia, have both natural ability and a committment to learning the game of football and listening to coaches, and are willing to play with heart and stay out of trouble and attend classes.
As the saying goes, "many are called, but few are chosen." Introducing the newest Georgia Bulldogs:
  1. Demetre Baker, 6'0, 200, OLB, 4 stars
  2. Brent Benedict, 6'6, 290, OT, 4 stars
  3. Michael Bennett, 6'3, 185, WR, 3 stars
  4. Brandon Burrows, 6'3, 235, DE, 3 stars
  5. Marc Deas, 6'0, 180, S, 4 stars
  6. Jalen Fields, 6'5, 251, DE, 4 stars
  7. Kenarious Gates, 6'5, 298, OT, 3 stars
  8. Jakar Hamilton, 6'1, 198, S, 4 stars
  9. Kolton Houston, 6'5, 270, OG, 4 stars
  10. Ken Malcome, 6'0, 212, RB, 4 stars
  11. Hutson Mason, 6'3, 200, QB, 3 stars
  12. Dexter Morant, 6'6, 230, 3 stars
  13. Alec Ogletree, 6'3, 212, OLB, 5 stars
  14. Alexander Ogletree, 5'9, 202, MLB, 2 stars
  15. Lonnie Outlaw, 6'6, 201, WR, 2 stars
  16. Derek Owens, 5'11, 175, CB, 3 stars
  17. Garrison Smith, 6'3, 255, DT, 4 stars
  18. T.J. Stripling, 6'6, 215, DE, 4 stars
  19. Michael Thornton, 6'1, 275, DT, 4 stars

The Atlanta Hawks entered this season with high hopes and thus far have lived up to the expectation and are currently holding the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. I've often been critical and demanded that the Hawks organization fire Coach Mike Woodson, but he really has done a good job of developing this young team. The Birds success is probably tied to the fact that the core group has stayed together - Coach Woodson, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, and Zaza Pachulia. Additionally, the resigning for Mike Bibby, the development of Al Horford, and free agent signing of Jamal Crawford puts the team in perfect position to make a post season run.

My biggest concern with the team is its lack of big men. The team doesn't have true starting center that can pound and rebound. Our lack of center may be liability come playoff team, especially if we're match up against Orlando, Cleveland, or Boston. The trade deadline is fast approaching, perhaps the team will make a move to secure a big for a playoff run.
