Cleveland has finally put Atlanta out of its misery. This series was never competitive and as a Hawks fan I’m glad its over because I got tired of watching not only LeBron James embarrass the Birds, but also his supporting cast. After game one (1) of the series it became painstakingly clear that Atlanta is a long way from being a top tier NBA team.
The team lacks focus, consistency, and the determination. I think these defects can be attributable to Mike Woodson and his coaching staff. The Birds played uninspired basketball and their body language showed defeat from the very beginning. Joe Johnson never played like the all-star he is, Josh Smith is still erratic as ever, the team still lacks a legitimate center (Al Horford is really a power forward), and Birds are still not competitive away from the Highlight Factory. At the end of last season I called for his dismissal and at the end of this season say the same. Woodson to his credit has led the team to increases in wins and watch-ability, but I am not confident that he can coach the Hawks to the next level.
