President Barack H. Obama

Today Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and offered a somber but hopeful inauguration speech – “Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real…They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this America: They will be met.” For many Americans, the weight of Obama’s inauguration was intensified by the fact that he’s the country’s first African-American president.

I realize that the start of the Obama Administration may not solve all of America’s problems, but hopefully it will be a step in the right direction toward pragmatic and successful solutions. Additionally, I pray that all Americans, regardless of their race, religion, geographic region, socio-economic background, or whatever label we use to categorize and separate ourselves, we’ll be able to put aside our partisan differences and come together as a true United States of America.
