Taking Notice

Last Thursday the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets rolled over the Miami Hurricanes with an impressive 41-23 win. The Tech option offense looked great as it accumulated 518 total yards, with 472 yards coming off the rush. Although I’m a Bulldog fan, I’ll give the Yellow Jackets big ups when they step up in a big nationally televised game.

Tech’s dominating win gives them momentum as the travel to Georgia to take on my beloved Bulldogs. I hope the UGA coaching staff and players watched the game and saw first hand how an effective spread offense can burn an ill prepared and undisciplined defense. The Jackets have lost seven straight games against the Dawgs and I believe Paul Johnson’s team is hungry. Unfortunately, I wonder are my Bulldogs still hungry as they haven’t played particularly well the last couple of weeks and they’ve barely beaten their last two opponents.

If Georgia wants to extend the streak to eight, then they’ll need to derail Georgia Tech’s rushing attacked and force them to throw the ball. I’m not completely sold on the Yellow Jackets passing game, as Tech quarterback Josh Nesbitt only went 3 of 6 for 24 yards against Miami.

On the offensive side, Georgia needs to establish their run game by giving Knowshon Moreno lots of carries. Once Moreno gets on track, they should start airing it out with Matthew Stafford.
