Georgia’s defense struggled midseason because of inconsistent play at the defensive line position. Simply put, UGA lacked depth and guys were being manhandled by opponent’s offensive line, thus opponent’s backfield was able to make big plays against the Bulldogs. Coach Mark Richt has enlisted two recruits from Georgia Military College: Jarius Wynn and Corvey Irvin in an effort to correct this problem. Both are scheduled to sign their respective letters of intent on December 20, 2006. The 6’4, 270 pound Wynn is expected to get early playing time at defensive end because of the departure of senior Quentin Moses and probably pro departure of Charles Johnson. The 6’3, 275 pound Irvin is also likely to complete for playing time at tackle because of depth issues.
Wynn and Irvin aren’t the only junior college players expecting to sign a letter of intent with UGA. Last week Georgia Military College offensive lineman Vince Vance and Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College offensive lineman Joe Blaes verbally committed to the Bulldogs.
