Thanksgiving is officially over. That’s probably a good thing because otherwise I’d be gaining lots of weight because it seemed as if I ate lots of food. This Thanksgiving was one of my favorites because I got to spend lots of time with my extended family and soon-to-be family. The holiday started out with me leaving the Carpet Capital and heading to Decatur Were It’s Greater, to eat lunch and go shopping with Miguel Lebanon. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen him. We followed the advice of local cows, and “ate more chicken”. After that, we walked Stonecreast Mall, a must stop location if you’re in the East Metro, and picked up the new Jay-Z c.d. Kingdom Come. This c.d. is for the grown man that likes hip-hop. There are no nurse rhyme hooks, or fake I’m hard male bravado, or degradation of women. Most rappers today need a hug. It looks like Beyonce as given Jay-Z plenty because he’s showing some maturity in the rhymes.
Next I hung out with Grandma Lil El and Pops. We all watched our share of court television. Best line of the morning – “your Honor, I tried to leave, but she cut me with a knife as I walked out the door, then as I ran down the street she followed me with our car and run me over.” The lady had to be about 5’1 and him 6’1, but she was a split fire in action. Needless to say, Judge Hecht believed his story.
After a morning of court television, I went to visit uncle, aunt cousin Danielle Cutie. Although I enjoyed my conversations with my aunt and uncle, they highlight was talking with Danielle Cutie. She recently had her super sweet 16 birthday party. Her family did it big like they do on MTV – catered food, a D.J. on the wheels-of-steel, photographer, and videographer. Unfortunately, I missed the party because I was in the Cream City, but I got to relive the moment by looking at the pictures and video.
Later in the afternoon, Swamps arrived from the Cream City and I relocated to her family’s house. After hanging with her family, the two of us met up with CJ Smooth and Victorious V.i.C. for dinner at Front Page News. The food was tasty.
Thanksgiving proved to be busy for this little bee. First, I embarked on making my first homemade pumpkin pie, with fresh pumpkin. I mixed the indigents and Swamps helped me make the crest. Next we ate dinner with her family, and then drove to Warner Robins, Georgia, about a 1 ½ away to eat with Pops side of the family. So much food – get in my belly!
Swamps and I got started early on Black Friday, not because of shopping but because Jackson and Ash, Swamps family’s two golden retrievers were running wild. Today Swamps and I returned to the Classic City, the place were we got engaged and ate at our favorite Chinese Restaurant, a must stop if you’re in the Classic City. After that, we joined the madness that’s Black Friday and picked up items for ourselves. Unfortunately, I got sick on Friday and had to go to bed early because I knew Saturday would start early because I was tailgating with the crew for the Georgia v. Georgia Tech game.
Tailgating is always fun. I along with Slick and Wubya returned to the Classic City to cheer on our Bulldogs as they take on the Yellow Jackets. The most shocking moment of the day – Slick showed up at the tailgate wearing a yellow and blue button up. He said it was the only thing he had, although he knew that Wubya and I had tons of red and black UGA shirts. We accused him of jumping on the Tech bandwagon.
Sunday saw me visit Grandma ERF and Papa. It was good seeing them, especially since I haven’t visited them in over a month. The highlight of the visit was a tasty dinner and hearing about the old days when they were young. All-in-all this was a great trip. The holidays are really about family.
