The Bulldog Football Nation needs an inspirational boost after a rough first half of the season. We need something to take our minds off our poor play. The team needs to do something out the ordinary to reenergize themselves and the fan base. I have the perfect solution – the Dawgs should sport an alternate color uniform against Florida. More specifically, the Dawgs should wear the already in existence black uniform. Just imagine the crowd reaction on Saturday as Georgia takes the field wearing black jerseys with white numbers outlined in red, silver breeches with the traditional red, black, and white stripe, and our old faithful red helmet with the original Georgia “G” on the side. The Bulldog side of the stadium would explode because it’d be so different and unexpected. The black jersey could symbolize a back to business – consistent and intense play for four quarters.I realize the argument against black jerseys is they attract sunlight, thus attracting heat, which increases the chances of our players overheating. I believe this argument has merit if the game was played at 1 p.m. in August on a sunny day, but this game is being played at 3:30 p.m. in October on a day scheduled to be cloudy and rainy. Even if the black jerseys attracted an increased amount of sunlight, I think the inspirational boost outweighs the negative. Our guys are in top shape and hydrated and ready to battle all elements. It’s time for Bulldog Black.
