S. Dash Returns

#1: Why haven’t you posted?
I haven’t posted in the last few weeks because I’ve been maintaining a hectic work and study schedule. It wasn’t possible for me to work, study, and post on a consistent basis, so I decided to take a hiatus from PiB. It was really hard for me to take the break because posting on my little humble site has been one of my favorite hobbies for the past two years, but it just wasn’t possible for me to do all the things I needed to do.

#2: What were you studying for?
I was studying for the Georgia bar exam, which I eventually took on July 25 and 26 at the Georgia International Convention Center, along with 1,400 other aspiring Georgia attorneys. We took the exam in a room the size of a football field. Test takers sat two people per table in alphabetical order and you could definitely hear a pin drop. Overall, the facilities were top-notch and the proctors were professional and informative. They made the testing environment as enjoyable as it could be.

#3: How do you feel about the exam?
The test went as well as I imagined it would go. There were definitely some things I knew, definitely some things I didn’t know, and a bunch of things in the middle. I put lots of time preparing for the test, so I’m praying for a passing score. I feel positive.

#4: What did you think about Superman Returns?
Superman Returns was good, but not super. The music and cinematography gave the movie a majestic feel – definitely a movie worth seeing on the big screen. The director did a great job with the small stuff, the sonic booms when Superman flew at light speeds, the toned down colors and textured look of the costume to give it a more realistic appearance, and the falling airliner to highlight the Man of Steel’s power, but as I watched the movie, I kept waiting for some sort of larger than life climax. Unfortunately, it never came. This problem could’ve been fixed with a secondary super villain. There needed to be another villain besides Lex Luther, i.e. someone like Brainiac, Doomsday, or Darkseid who requires Superman to use his awesome power to defeat them. There needed to be one massive, but not over the top, fight scene where Superman zooms through the Metropolis skyline fighting, avoiding crashing through buildings, saving citizens, and putting down the bad guy.

#5: How’s Swamps doing?
She’s doing well, enjoying her (working) summer getaway in the beautiful Twin City as she attempts to discover a cure for cancer while working with the Mickey Mouse Club. She actually paid me a weeklong surprise visit in the Carpet Capital prior to my birthday on July 10. She really enjoyed the metropolitan feel of the Carpet Capital and looks to make a return visit in late August.

#6: How’s Bean doing?
He’s doing well, hanging with the grandparents and resting up after his journey through the continental U.S. with Sinbad. We went to Six Flags last Friday, my first time in two years and had lots of fun and then settled down in the Carpet Capital and played tons of video games and watched lots of Justice League episodes. The best four days a brother could ask for. He returns to the Ranch next weekend.

#7: Who’s the starting quarterback for UGA in the season opener against Western Kentucky and how will the QB race play out?
That’s a tough call because all four prospects – Joe Tereshinski III, Blake Burns, Joe Cox, and Matthew Stafford are all unproven quarterbacks. Joe T3 is the only one out of the bunch who’s actually started a college game. Although the Bulldogs lost, he was the only one on the field who showed up to play. Blake Burns has been in the system for two years, but if hasn’t jumped Joe T3 in those two years, he probably won’t now. In high school football, Joe Cox apparently had tremendous chemistry with standout freshman wide receiver Muhammad Massaquoi, so it may be worthwhile to see if they can replicate on the college level. Lastly, Matthew Stafford is a highly recruited freshman, who supposedly has great arm strength and accuracy. If I had to pick, Joe T3 gets the start on opening day, but won’t be the starter for the entire season, Blake Burns gets the boot and will probably transfer, Joe Cox secures the backup role on opening day, but takes over midseason, and Matthew Stafford gets red shirted until next season where he’ll take the starting job and Joe Cox will be his backup.
