Futbol Fun

There are some stories that are too crazy to be true, but this isn't one of them. Everything in this story is true, but before we get into that, I have few things I'd like to say - soccer is the world's favorite sport and it's my favorite sport to play. For those who don't know, I grew up playing soccer. Check me out in my smooth mighty maroon Marauders jersey. Please note the white cleats - I was light years ahead the current soccer style. Back in the day, people didn't wear non-black cleats. I was the man. I digress.

Playing wasn't enough; I even coached a champion little league soccer team two years ago. We owned the U-8 division, led by Bean and the rest of the Storm. Coaching was probably one of the coolest things I've done. They were a great group of kids. Yella, when are we going to get the boys back together to bring home the trophy again? The sensational Storm is pictured below.

I guess soccer's still in my blood because I currently play in the UGA IM league. Do you remember the Gravy Boat Astronauts? Guess what - we're back and we own the Ramsey! Although I don't follow European soccer on a regular basis, but thanks to my teammate Poesy, I bring to you the wackiness of international soccer.

This is the part that's too crazy to be true, but it is true: Romanian second division soccer club UT Arad traded a player in exchange for 33 pounds of meat. Unfortunately, the player that was traded for meat retired prior to joining his new team. The team spokesman was quoted as saying, “We are upset because we lost twice - first, we lost a good player and second, we lost our team’s food for a whole week.
