28 Days of American History

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Black History Month, so in honor of this great month, PiB will attempt to provide 28 profiles of great African-Americans. I say attempt because I may miss a day or two, especially since I'm super busy this month. See my post - "Miss You" and you'll know how busy I am. I hope all my readers take the time to read the profiles of these great individuals. They really are pioneers for all Americans, not just Blacks. Please understand that Black History Month is for all Americans. Every American: White, Black, Asian, Latino, Jew, Christian, and Muslim benefited from the accomplishments of the people profiled on this site. Some of the people will be people you've heard of, and others will be new to you, some you like and others you don't, but all of them would have impacted your life in some form or fashion. Always remember: Black History is YOUR American History.

In honor of the life and death of Coretta Scott King, please read her profile below as we kick off Black History Month a day early.
