Dirty Birds Flying High
The Atlanta Falcons took it to the Philadelphia Eagles 14 - 10 on Monday Night Football. The Atlanta defense looked great. The got lots of pressure on McNabb and DeAngelo Hall kept T.O. out the endzone. The run game looked solid, and Vick had moments of greatness.

Tough luck for cornerback Kevin Mathis. First, he gets kicked out the MNF game for fighting in the pre-game. How do you fight in the pre-game - I do not know. Second, he hurts his knee in practice and he's out of the season.
For years I have cringed at the immaturity and lack of discipline that cause brawls to break out before some college football games. The Eagles and Falcons - particularly firestarters Jeremiah Trotter and Kevin Mathis - should be ashamed of themselves for maring the Monday night opener with their childish macho display.

I have to agree with Peter King. Both players should be ashamed - team always come before childish behavior. Plus, if you're going to fight, at least fight in street clothes, so you want break your hand hitting someone's helmet.
When I watch football, I secretly hope they fight...the possibility is much more thrilling than boxing where you know they are going to fight just to fight--not because they are just too enamoured with the game.
